Philippe Mathieu is a farmer's son, educated from the earliest age to appreciate the wide landscapes around him and respect the natural environment. Rather than going into farming himself, he chose a career in woodcraft, different, yet not entirely divorced from his family background.
Irrepressibly inquisitive, he'd take a highly individual approach to his trade, straying eagerly from the beaten track, undaunted by the unexpected. Inspired by travel to vineyards across the planet, he creates atmospheres, scenery, plays of light.
The ever-present curiosity, sharpened by the passage of time and the variety of projects completed, is oblivious to limits and constraints, enabling the craftsman to embrace the ideals of a more ecological world and a deep respect and understanding of the nature and origin of materials.
